Decking Process
The decking process begins with the sub-structure. The Excel chart in the Hull section provides the 12 rib locations used here. Associated with the locations are the positioning of the deck hardware. The sub-structure incorporates a compression strut tower and to some extent the turning block bulkhead. The design seen here is not new and comes from experience in building the EC12.
The deck covering is 1/8" Cherry. This was chosen for economical reasons as most wanted to clear resin their decks for the natural wood look and one sheet of Cherry will cover three boats. The deck here will be painted white...sorry. The 16 x 96 sheet was pre-cut off the gunwale.
There will be notes from time to time that will suggest departing the process to install other items. The vanguard boat identified these suggestion for future building. It is like the question, "If you were to do this again, what would you change?" A view of the future will be mentioned for you to reflect upon. |
